Food and music – good for the soul

St Mark’s Church, Dalston welcomed Alevi neighbours to the church with music, food and a guided tour.  Another packed Near Neighbours event, extra tables were brought in to accommodate young and old from the Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi and St Mark’s Church to learn more about the history of St Mark’s and the Christian faith.  Reverend Josh led us on a tour round the Church, built in 1870.  We learnt about  the unique working barometer and angel windows.  Alevis expressed interested in the christian stories told by the artworks and stained glass windows around the Church.  Understandably, the congregation of St Mark’s showed great pride in this beautiful building which has been looked after so well over the centuries.
