world percussion

Our music workshops build concentration, listening and team working skills for children and adults of all abilities.

Focusing on the different playing techniques needed to play world percussion encourages development of hand-eye co-ordination.  Large scale instruments help children with hearing impairment to feel the beat through hands and feet.

As well as teaching rhythms, we encourage children to appreciate and care for instruments by  providing world percussion to settings for the duration of our programmes:

  • Djembe drums from West Africa

Latin American percussion made from recycled materials

  • Remo drums from Ivory Coast
  • Samba drum sets from Brazil
  • Steel pans, Congas, and Bongos for great percussion sounds from the Caribbean
  • Nargara Drums from India together with ankle bells for dance sessions
  • Middle Eastern Doumbeks

Our instruments are also available to hire – why not book a World Beaters twilight session, for some tasty food and a percussion master-class to kick start your delivery of world music?
